Grading Format:
     35% Tests/Projects
     30% Quiz
     35% Classwork/Homework

Course Abstract: Algebra II is taught in accordance with the Connecticut State Department of Education’s Algebra II Common Core and the Hartford Public School District’s Curriculum including the Standards for Mathematical Practice:

1.       Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.

2.       Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

3.       Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.

4.       Model with mathematics.

5.       Use appropriate tools strategically.

6.       Attend to precision.

7.       Look for and make use of structure.

8.       Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

Rules and Expectations: It is expected that every student will work diligently at mathematics by being attentive to all of the following:

1.       Maintains a positive attitude, even in the face of challenges.

2.       Works cooperatively with others.

3.       Participates in class.

4.       Completes homework.

5.       Strives for self-improvement.

6.       Takes responsibility for getting extra help when needed.

7.       Expects the best from himself/herself.

8.       Shows respect for others.

Make-up work: If absent you are responsible for getting all missed notebook pages from my wikipage.  Missed tests, quizzes, or homework assignments must be made up within two days of your return to school.  If more time is necessary to complete missed work, you must see me within the two allotted days to make alternate arrangements.  Failure to make up the work or make alternate arrangements within the allotted time will result in a zero.  If absent due to a field trip or a cut missed work will not be accepted late for credit.  It is your responsibility to get the assignment ahead of time.

Notebook and Supplies: We will be creating an Algebra II notebook with notes, reference sheets, examples and SAT work.  You will be permitted to use this notebook during quizzes, tests and exams. I will provide most of the supplies but in the past students have found it helpful to have a type of glue or markers they prefer and a pair of scissors. The notebook will count as one test grade per quarter.

Resumen del curso: Álgebra II se enseña de acuerdo con el Núcleo Común de Álgebra II del Departamento de Educación de Connecticut y el Currículo del Distrito Escolar Público de Hartford incluyendo los Estándares para la Práctica Matemática:

1. Hacer sentido de los problemas y perseverar en resolverlos.

2. Razonar de forma abstracta y cuantitativa.

3. Construir argumentos viables y criticar el razonamiento de otros.

4. Modelo con las matemáticas.

5. Utilice las herramientas apropiadas estratégicamente.

6. Atender a la precisión.

7. Buscar y hacer uso de la estructura.

8. Busque y exprese regularidad en razonamientos repetidos.

Reglas y Expectativas: Se espera que cada estudiante trabaje diligentemente en matemáticas atento a todo lo siguiente:

1. Mantiene una actitud positiva, incluso frente a desafíos.

2. Trabaja cooperativamente con otros.

3. Participa en clase.

4. Completa la tarea.

5. Se esfuerza por la auto-mejora.

6. Asume la responsabilidad de obtener ayuda adicional cuando sea necesario.

7. Espera lo mejor de sí mismo.

8. Demuestra respeto por los demás.

Trabajo de maquillaje: Si está ausente usted es responsable de obtener todas las páginas de cuaderno perdidas de mi wikipage. Los exámenes perdidos, los exámenes o las tareas deben hacerse dentro de los dos días de su regreso a la escuela. Si necesitas más tiempo para completar el trabajo perdido, debes verme dentro de los dos días asignados para hacer arreglos alternativos. Si no se compone el trabajo o se hacen arreglos alternos dentro del tiempo asignado, se obtendrá un cero. Si ausente debido a una excursión o un corte de trabajo no se aceptará tarde para el crédito. Es su responsabilidad de obtener la asignación de antemano.

Cuaderno y Suministros: Vamos a crear un cuaderno de Álgebra II con notas, hojas de referencia, ejemplos y trabajo SAT. Se le permitirá usar este cuaderno durante pruebas, exámenes y exámenes. Voy a proporcionar la mayoría de los suministros, pero en el pasado los estudiantes han encontrado útil tener un tipo de pegamento o marcadores que prefieren y un par de tijeras. El cuaderno contará como un grado de prueba por trimestre.
